Would You Wear Your Dead Pet as Jewelry?

A few very, er, enterprising companies are giving mourning animal lovers the opportunity to wear the remains of their dearly beloved furry friends as pearls or even diamonds. Technically, this faddish practice has some basis in eco-fashion (since it’s definitely better than unethically sourced jewels) but is it good for grieving pet owners’ mental health or just a sign that their sanity is already beyond repair?

It’s certainly less gross than wearing a sweater made of your pet’s fur. I would love to have some kind of keepsake of my pet’s that’s beautiful too. In fact, I wouldn’t mind if MY remains were carried on as a jewel. Let’s face it, graveyards are creepy, despite how well they’re maintained, and I wouldn’t want to it to be an ordeal for my descendent to visit my. Ashes in an urn is just as creepy, and may make any home into an uncomfortable place. But a diamond, whether made of me or my pets, would be a beautfiul metaphor of the life it had. Hopefully anyway.
