The innovative, living bus shelter is perfectly integrated within the existing city fabric, while providing a small green oasis. The green bus stop was created as part of a competition organized by the Municipality of Eindhoven back in 2009. The bus station was featured during 2009 Dutch Design Week, but it didn’t get much attention from the press until now.
Jackel Henstra and Joost van der Klooster from WVTTK Architects designed the shelter in an effort to help make the city greener, but also to consciously integrate it with the many existing green spaces the city has. It physically joins Eindhoven’s Golden Oriole, the Dommel and Genneperparken. With a green roof and green wall panels full of growing plants, the lush public feature also includes ad space for sustainable brands.
