This amazing wooden bicycle was completely hand-crafted by Yojiro Oshima, a design student at the Craft&Industrial Department at Musashino Art University in Tokyo. The wooden bike features a sculptural wooden frame that softens the ride while retaining an optimal level of stiffness.

To create his wooden bike Yojiro Oshima experimented with the different frame and handlebar shapes to achieve an optimal structural configuration that is not dependent on the material.

The cycle is made from hollowed-out 6-12 mm sections bonded together to create a flowing network of rims and spokes. The curve at the top of the spokes absorbs impacts, and the beam-style seat tube improves overall comfort. The bike has  tri spoke-style wheels (known as “baton wheels”), which feature an arc between the spokes and rim that is designed to reduce large impacts.

It looks like NOT 100% wood, but, plenty of metal hardware, chain, gears, brakes and cables.
Still a great job working with wood.

I love it. Has it got rubber tyres and tubes?
