The Zenergy House is a 1950′s remodel that delivers high on sustainability and low on energy use — net zero to be exact — thanks to the use of super-efficient green building strategies and solar panels on the roof. Built as a prototype to showcase the sustainable potential of an existing home, the 2,450 square-foot house with 3 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms opened its doors to the public for the first time earlier this month, and Inhabitat was on the scene to check it out. Read on for a first look at this stunning green renovation!

You may also note that The Zenergy house uses a third more energy than the regional household average. You can check out the facts for instance on The Register. http://www.theregister.co.uk/2010/04/28/zero_energy_house_not_so_much/

Crazy stuff. But since when did burning fossil fuels in large quantities count as “zero energy usage?”

Zero net electrical usage is NOT the same as zero net energy usage, or else my car runs on fairy dust.
