The Bloemncorso in Zundert takes place the first Sunday of every September. Hundreds of volunteer of all ages help construct the floats. The community’s older residents traditionally plant the flowers while the younger members assemble the structure by hand in temporary tents. Zundert’s celebration is extra unique, as the town only uses dahlias to decorate their objects.
Building the floats is a major social event. City residents work together for over three months to perfect their float. While the tents go up during the summer, the dahlias must be fresh for the parade so they cannot be attached until the very last few days. Twenty of the town’s districts compete to create the most stunning design. From tigers and chickens to swirling cityscapes, each year is bursting with new and exciting floral creations!
