Not everybody has an ALDI store in their neighborhood, but those who do rave about the Illinois-based grocery chain with more than 2,000 outlets in 36 states. One draw shoppers enjoy is the increasing number of suitable ALDI vegan food products.

“We want all shoppers to enjoy the foods they want at affordable prices, regardless of their dietary needs or lifestyle,” said an ALDI spokesperson. “We are constantly evolving our product selection to meet changing eating habits as well as dietary preferences.”

One of the keys to ALDI’s philosophy is that more choices do not equal a better shopping experience. Instead of offering ten versions of a product, the chain decides which is best and then just offers that one. If a shopper wants soy milk, they grab the one on offer rather than standing around in the aisle comparing labels. ALDI aficionados appreciate quickly getting in and out of the store and leaving with bags of high-quality, low-cost foods. More than 90% of packaged foods are exclusive ALDI brands. The ALDI Test Kitchen vets these products and backs them with a double guarantee. If you don’t like it, you’ll get your money back and a different product.

Shoppers like to visit and discover weekly ALDI Finds. These special deals could range from vegan winter foods to small kitchen appliances. ALDI also sells lots of fresh produce. The chain partners with growers, including some local organic farmers.

So, what do we have to look forward to this season as far as vegan winter foods? “Earth Grown is our exclusive line of vegetarian and vegan foods,” said an ALDI spokesperson. “In addition to our everyday selection of Earth Grown products, we continue to regularly introduce new options for our customers as ALDI Finds, such as vegan salad dressings and vegan cheese sticks that will be available early next year.”

A box of Aldi Black Bean Chipotle Burgers.

Vegan black bean and veggie burgers

ALDI’s Earth Grown brand offers both a black bean chipotle or veggie burger. During summer, grilling makes these burgers delicious. But for a hearty winter meal, we recommend serving the burger on thick brown bread with a hot cup of vegan mushroom soup. According to reviews on the Parent Tested Parent Approved website, kids love these burgers. One mom said she also puts them in taco shells, crumbles them into her spaghetti sauce, loads them on nachos, and layers them with eggplant for a casserole.

A package of Aldi Classic Meatless Meatballs.

Meatless meatballs

Earth Grown Meatless Meatballs won the coveted Product of the Year Award in the plant-based protein category, according to Broadway World. This is the world’s largest consumer-voted product innovation award as voted on by 40,000 consumers. These meatballs are soy-based and made with non-GMO ingredients. They work well with pasta or on sandwiches and are available in classic or zesty.

A box of Aldi Kale Veggie Burgers.

Kale or quinoa veggie burgers

For a superfood boost, try ALDI’s Earth Grown Kale or Quinoa Crunch Veggie Burgers. As everybody probably knows by now, quinoa is a seed, not a grain, and thus chock-full of protein. Meanwhile, kale provides a healthy dose of vitamins A, K and C.

A box of Aldi Meat Free Chickenless Patties.

Chicken patties and tenders

ALDI’s Earth Grown Chickenless Patties or Tenders are breaded soy protein patties. You can cook them in the oven, toaster oven, skillet or microwave. Our sources say oven cooking produces the best results. On a sandwich with ketchup or ranch dressing, these are a kid-pleaser. Especially if you add fries.

Earth Grown Vegan Flame Grilled Soy Protein Burgers

Yet another ALDI burger offering, these flame-grilled burgers will remind you of summer even when it’s snowing outside. When winter gets you down, combine the flame-grilled burger with pineapple, if you can find any, and dream of warmer weather.

A package of Earth Grown Teriyaki Baked Tofu

Earth Grown Baked Tofu

Baked tofu — it’s so convenient. Unlike regular tofu, which comes out of the container slimy, pale and flaccid, baked tofu is ready to go. Slice it onto a sandwich, cube it for stir-fry, whatever. Yet another ALDI Find, available for a limited time starting on January 6, 2021.

A bottle of Earth Grown Dairy Free Salad Dressings (Ranch).

Salad dressings

Earth Grown Dairy Free Salad Dressings skip the butterfat, mayo, whey and dried milk solids so prevalent in many salad dressings. These ALDI Finds will await you for a limited time starting in January.

A box of Earth Grown Vegan Mozzarella Sticks.

Vegan cheese sticks

Saving the best for last, Earth Grown Vegan Cheese Sticks will also hit stores in January as an ALDI Find. Just like real cheese sticks, these treats won’t be a health food. But who doesn’t enjoy indulging in a cheese stick every now and then? And the vegan variety is hard to find.
