Mercedes-Benz just unveiled its second electric car, the 2014 SLS AMG Coupe Electric Drive at the 2012 Paris Motor Show! The 2014 Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG Coupe Electric Drive sets a new standard for electric cars with its four electric motors that produce a whopping 740 horsepower, making it the ultimate zero-emission supercar.
The 2014 Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG Coupe Electric Drive is based on the SLS AMG supercar, but its gas engine has been swapped out and in its place four electric motors provide 740 horsepower and 737 lb-ft of torque. The SLS AMG Coupe Electric Drive is now the most powerful Mercedes-Benz AMG model ever produced.
According to Mercedes-Benz the SLS AMG Coupe Electric Drive will reach 0-62 mph in 3.9 seconds and has a top speed of 155 mph. It has a range of 155 miles between charges that can take up to 20 hours, but a new “wall box” quick charger drops that time down to around three hours.
“The SLS AMG Coupé Electric Drive is setting new standards for cars with electric drives. As the most powerful gullwing model ever, it is also representative of the enduring innovational strength of Mercedes-AMG. Our vision of the most dynamic electric vehicle has become a reality,” stated Ola Källenius, Chairman of the Board of Management of Mercedes-AMG GmbH.
The 2014 SLS AMG Coupé Electric Drive will go on sale in Europe next year with a starting price of 416,500 euros or $536,000 US.
