3XN’s Green-Roofed Stockholm City Station to Serve as Entrance to the City Center

Copenhagen-based firm <a href="http://inhabitat.com/tag/3xn">3XN</a> just unveiled plans for a new mixed use tower to mark the entrance of Stockholm's inner city center. The <a href="http://www.3xn.dk/en/#/home/projects/projects_year/Station%20City%20Stockholm" target="_blank">Stockholm City Station</a> is composed of 4 buildings of varying heights that will hold a hotel, apartments and an entrance to the train and underground station. Three of the four towers will be topped with <a href="http://inhabitat.com/green-roof/">green roofs</a> and will provide commanding views of Sweden's capital.

Stockholm Station City is a mixed use development located in the heart of Stockholm that will mark the entrance to the inner city center.

Conceived by <a href="http://www.3xn.dk/" target="_blank">3XN</a>, the building addresses a number of public and private functions, and it's designed to contribute positively to life in the surrounding neighborhood.

Composed of 4 tower volumes of varying height, the project features a hotel and conference center, 25 apartments, a sky bar, three <a href="http://inhabitat.com/green-roof/">green-roofed terraces</a> and some retail on the ground floor level.

The building also integrates into the underground public transportation system and provides a connection with the central station nearby.

A square volume is split into quarters.

Four towers are created.

The heights are varied.

Each tower is made a different height.

Tower volumes are expanded slightly.

The roofs are given a different purpose each.
