Audi used the 79th running of the 24 Hours of Le Mans to demonstrate its newest green creation, the eTron Spyder diesel plug-in hybrid concept. This innovative car is powered by 3 sources: 2 electric motors and a V-6 diesel engine for a total output of 384 horsepower and a massive 664 lb-ft of torque. How can such a powerful car be green?

First of all, it’s very light. This allows the eTron to go from 0-60 in 4.4 seconds while averaging 123 miles per gallon. The eTron also gets an impressive 620 miles between fill-ups. A little less impressive is its performance in all-electric mode, which yields a 31-mile range and a top speed of 37 miles. But still, we can’t wait to see where this concept goes as Audi refines the car’s technologies for production.
