Ronald van der Meijs (1966) lives and works in Amsterdam. He graduated cum laude at the Academy of Arts St. Joost, Breda in the Netherlands. He received the Vishal Art Price 2015 / 2016 in Haarlem and exhibits around the world such as Central Museum Utrecht, Sculpture Space in Utica, New York, the International Triennial of New Media Art Beijing in the National Art Museum Of China NAMOC in Beijing, FILE in Sao Paulo, Kapelica Gallery in Ljubljana and ERES Foundation in Munich. He also received art commissions of the Dutch Government including a major sculptural assignment of Atelier Rijksbouwmeester for the new Head Quarters of Europol in The Hague, Netherlands.
He constructs site-specific installations that show how we relate to our environment. The work is a symbiosis of slow and uncontrollable natural processes and our technocratic society. It is a dialogue between nature and technology or nature versus culture. The installations move between the concept of desire and acceptance, and can be seen as a metaphorical approach to sound, space and time.
