Ben & Jerry’s has been a household name in progressive ice cream for decades – made famous with their funny, yummy flavors like “Funky Monkey” and “Cherry Garcia”, but until now, the brand has lacked non-dairy or vegan options. After years of requests, the company is finally launching its own line of four new vegan ice creams and showing the masses how delicious dairy free desserts can be.
After receiving years’ worth of requests and a Change.org petition from vegan and lactose intolerant would-be consumers, the revered ice cream company set upon a two year recipe testing journey. The result is the creation of almond milk-based Chunky Monkey, Chocolate Fudge Brownie, Coffee Caramel Fudge, and P.B. & Cookies flavors. The two former flavors are non-dairy versions of their popular cow’s milk ice creams and ensure everyone can enjoy the classic treats.
Lindsay Bumps, a Ben & Jerry’s representative, told Fortune, “We have worked for a couple of years to make these non-dairy flavors deliver on what our fans expect—from taste and texture.” Each of the flavors is certified vegan and the company plans on adding more flavors to the line in the future. Right now, some taste tests are ranking the P.B. & Cookies as the tastiest of the bunch – and, luckily for everyone, this is currently the only vegan flavor available in Ben & Jerry’s ice cream shops. Which flavor will you try first?
And if you’re looking for delicious non dairy ice cream that you can easily find in your local super market – try the brand Coconut Bliss. Coconut is the creamiest milk-substitute we’ve found.
