Do not fear the dark. The new BaseLantern from BioLite is here to help you navigate through the night. A classic outdoor lantern with a modern twist, the BaseLantern is sleek, energy efficient, and designed for resilience and mobility. The BaseLantern is BioLite’s first product that is Bluetooth compatible, and its 7800 mAh li-ion battery is powerful enough to charge up to four smartphones, making it a functional component in a portable, mini-smart grid. The BaseLantern is available for just a few more days on Kickstarter – pick one up here!
The BaseLantern possesses a flat-pack design to facilitate ease of use and transport. In contrast to traditional lanterns which use air to diffuse light, the BaseLantern utilizes the texture of the lantern to shine via an advanced edge-lighting technology. This design enables the BaseLantern to maintain a small, efficient size while still outputting 500 lumens of light. The system is rechargeable through a micro-USB plug, and it features two USB ports for charging cellphones and other devices.

The BaseLantern’s BlueTooth capability is a breakthrough in BioLite products. With the BaseLantern app, users can alter the lantern’s intensity, set timers, program the light to turn on based on the proximity of its owner, and control the lantern’s full-color spectrum lighting. The app also includes real-time analytics, which provides feedback on battery usage to better inform energy use on a sustained trip. Up to 16 BioLite lanterns can be connected through the Bluetooth network, which allows for a coordinated ambiance in larger spaces. Design your own light show or guide your way in the wilderness with the Bluetooth capable BioLite BaseLantern.
