Last week, prefab housing builder Blu Homes announced the purchase of Modern Cabana. The San Francisco-based modular home provider is well known for its backyard accessory dwelling and workshop structures. The acquisition should help to bolster Blu Homes’ product offerings, and it shows how quickly Blu Homes has grown to become one of the leaders is prefab housing in the US.
Modern Cabana is a company that provides elegant solutions such as backyard yoga studios, workshops, studios, garden sheds and playrooms. Bill Haney, the founder of Blu Homes, recognizes that “Modern Cabana’s commitment to high quality design, building integrity, and green ethos make it a superb addition to the Blu family”. He added that “they are ideal sister products to Blu’s more spacious Origin designs, which offer fully conditioned living and work spaces, and can serve a multitude of purposes from bedroom additions to elegant and playful homes”.
Founded in 2004, Modern Cabana has made a great impact for homeowners who wish to get away from traditional permit-led construction. Modern Cabana presented a prefabricated product that could be constructed without a permit over the course of a few days. This technique adds useable living space to a property without too much expense or hassle.
This news came at the beginning of Blu Homes exhibition at the USGBC Greenbuild Conference in San Francisco. The team at Modern Cabana is thrilled about the merger and they believe that Blu Homes will add much to the product with their great design team and state-of-the-art manufacturing facility.
