“We have always felt a special connection with the Japanese as Danish design is admired and so well recognized in this market,” said BoConcept CEO Torben Paulin. “Once we began discussing the scope of our 2014 design collaboration we quickly reached the decision to partner with a Japanese designer. Oki Sato was at the top of our list and we were lucky to be able to meet him at the Furniture Fair in Stockholm where he was a guest of honor.”

The new BoConcept collection includes a sofa, a chair, a rug, a table, a modular wall storage system, and accessories. The fusion sofa features a base with four movable cushions that can be rearranged to suit many different situations, whether it be watching TV with the family or cozy drinks with friends. The pillows can also be removed completely so that the piece can be used as a daybed.

The line’s clever shelving system is another solution for urbanites looking to organize their belongings within a tiny apartment. Homeowners can choose to use one modular shelf, or add as many as they need for their space. In addition to creating valuable storage, the bookcases double as modern wall art.

“The new BoConcept fusion by nendo collection is a perfect example of our commitment to sustainability,” Steen Knigge, Marketing, The Americas at BoConcept, told us. “The multi-functional pieces in this collection features raw materials like wood and leather that are hallmarks of Japanese and Danish design. And as with all BoConcept products, we’ll produce the fusion furniture pieces on demand which minimize waste and transportation of product around the world.”

The new fusion line will be available starting on April 1st in BoConcept stores across the United States.
