Breaking Ground, a non-profit organization that matches low-income New Yorkers with homes, hosted a topping-off ceremony this month for their latest project in the Bronx. Designed by COOKFOX Architects, Park House is the organization’s first residence and, once completed, will provide affordable green housing to 248 families.
Although Breaking Ground has been working diligently to help people escape and avoid homelessness since 1990, Park House is the organization’s first foray into building a residence for its families. Located at located at 4275 Park Avenue, the 248 units will offer one-, two-, and three-bedroom apartments.
The building will offer residents a landscaped courtyard, 24-hour security, on-site laundry and a community space. Additionally, the design is expected to meet Enterprise Green Certification standards thanks to energy-efficient features and a green roof.
Park House is slated to open in 2017.
