When designing the ‘Leaf Lamp’, Peter Schumacher <\/a>drew inspiration from the geometric patterns found in plants. The goal in creating the design was to use a limited amount of materials to construct lighting that could create organic textures that would extend across a large amount of space. The lamp is a carefully considered arrangement of several different components: repetition, construction, sustainability, materials, durability, wiring, construction, configuration, and the Fibonacci Sequence. This well-planned design not only managed to meet all of the listed criteria, but maintained a seamless attention to aesthetic detail.<\/p>\n

The flat pack design can be assembled through tapered joints that provide a stable connection for easy assembly. The spacing of the twig-like base is inspired by the Fibonacci Sequence, and is designed in accordance to the famous and somewhat-sacred formula. Wood and unbleached wool felt are the only two materials used in the design, and there are no toxic finishes or adhesives used. The Leaf Lamp can also be configured for use as a floor or pendant lamp, and its wiring can be dismantled for future recycling at the end of its life. The Leaf Lamp is the perfect junction between meticulous design and sophisticated style.<\/p>\n\n\t\t
