The temporary installation was put together using welding techniques that made its structure look like a giant snowflake. The carpenters of Hello Wood created a wooden frame, which was brought to the site and covered with wooden sledges. The steel base weights 4.5 tons, making the whole structure heavy enough to withstand the heavy winds of winter. Each of the four stems of the installation holds 325 kilograms. The alpinists of Hello Wood then started hanging the sledges from the top down, and the tree slowly started to take shape. The final result was a 11-meter high dreamlike Christmas tree that showcases the ingenuity of construction techniques used by the designers.
The interior of the tree will be open for visitors from December 5th until January 6th, after which period it will be dismantled and the sledges will be distributed among kids. It is a perfect gift to the inhabitants of Budapest, and a design endeavor which channels the true spirit of Christmas.
