Summer’s officially gone, so we’re a little sad that we just found out about Chilli Island. It sounds like a cool place to visit but it’s actually a thing that could take your warm weather vacation to the next level of awesome. Chilli Island is the fusion of a floating lounge chair and an electric watercraft, put together in such a way to make all your summertime dreams come true. Let’s be clear about one thing: this is not your mother’s inflatable pool chair.

Chilli Island may look like an unassuming lounger, but it’s technically a boat. Powered by a Torqeedo electric motor, available in 0.5- and 1-kW options, this cool summer plaything can tool around a body of water under its own battery power for up to six hours at a time. It features three petal-like shades, inspired by palm tree leaves, that can be repositioned for optimal comfort.

The watercraft is like a cozy getaway for two, measuring just 8.2 x 7.4 ft (2.5 x 2.25 m) and weighs 440 lb (200 kg). Chilli Island has molded loungers and built-in headrests, which invite folks to kick back and catch some rays, or rest in the shade with a cool beverage.
This little water baby was born in Vienna, and its makers think it’s a lot cooler than the pedal boats that travelers are accustomed to seeing at a beach resort or lakeside lodge. We kind of have to agree on that point. We haven’t seen anything quite like this relaxation craft, but we’d sure like to.
