When owning land, signing papers, and paying utility bills in the midst of a big city just sounds like too much trouble, why not consider turning a disused bus into a sweet new home that you can drive down the road? That's what wpi Creative did with this old clunker on the west coast, which recently sold to a young couple living in the Cascade Mountains.
It’s not always warm up in the mountains, so this beauty has a rustic wood-fired stove that you’d see in any earthy library, except this one is keeping a small bus nice and toasty. To keep it from being over-heated though, it’s possible to simply crack a window to promote natural ventilation.
The bus home is lined with wholesome timber and features the same kind of secure shelving and furniture that one might see on a boat to ensure minimum disturbance during travel. It also comes with fully functioning plumbing. Although old vehicles such as these aren’t the most fuel-efficient, and it would be unwise to travel too much, it seems almost certain that overall this project has a smaller carbon footprint than the average new home.
