Australian film Nova Deko Modular builds modular homes, the smallest of which are dubbed “granny flats”. Their recent house in Milan is based on a 40’ shipping container and comprises space-saving solutions that make it compact and expansive at the same time. Thanks to mechanisms such as folding doors and built-in cabinets, the house provides a living space that doesn’t feel claustrophobic. And it looks good too!
The upgraded version of the house comes with several options included in the base model, which comprises a bedroom with a double bed, three-piece bathroom with shower, several closets and a kitchen. The kitchen is equipped with a two-burner cook-top and an alcove for a convection or microwave oven. In addition to these, the house can have a deck suitable for warmer climates.
Aluminum and glass folding doors come with the upgraded model, while the base model includes sliding doors. Shelving and floor-to-ceiling cabinets provide enough storage space, leaving plenty of room for comfortable and unobstructed movement through space. Models similar to the Milan house cost 47,000 Australian dollars ($33,965) when shipped within Australia.
