"Nest Rest" is a woven hanging lounge that takes inspiration from the way birds build their abodes in the wild. Designed by Paris-based Daniel Puzet and Fred Frety, two longtime collaborators of manufacturing firm DEDON, the shelter is made entirely from recyclable, non-toxic, weatherproof materials. Designed to be enjoyed in private or with company, Nest Rest is the perfect cocoon for relaxation, meditation, or open-air conversations.
DEDON’s “Nest Rest” is a piece of floating furniture that can be hung or sat on a base, resulting in a tranquil and private space. Sturdy yet light, it weighs less than 100kg and is 79 inch wide. It is made from a recyclable aluminum frame woven with a 1.5 inch wide special sustainable material called DEDON Fiber.
The fiber was developed in 1990 by famous German goalkeeper Bobby Dekeyser, who created the material for his family business and retired from football the same year. It is recyclable and probably the world’s first — and finest — synthetic resin fiber material. Its production implies zero waste, as every piece of aluminum off-cut or leftover strip of fiber gets sold or recycled back to make a new product.
