PLP Architecture designed The Edge for OVG Real Estate, and Deloitte is the building’s lead tenant. The project is one of the most innovative and energy-efficient commercial buildings in the world. The building achieved the highest BREEAM rating in its category thanks to its huge rooftop solar array, its innovative lighting solutions, and its energy-efficient systems. The certification recognizes buildings designed, constructed and operated to meet the highest sustainability standards.

Inside the building, a 15-story atrium allows natural lighting to permeate the workspaces. The Edge is the first development to use Philips’ Ethernet-powered connected LED lighting, which enables users to control the lighting and climate at their desk area using a smart phone. Sensors embedded into the lights are able to capture anonymous data about carbon dioxide levels, temperature and humidity. The system also helps employees navigate the building-the lights transmit encoded data to mobile devices.
