Imprisonment is one of the bigger taboos within our modern society, but its function is nonetheless deemed necessary. The aim of the [PACIFIC] New Ocean Platform Prison Design Competition is to develop a prison facility that uses an oil platform in the Pacific Ocean as a reference structure. The design of this new platform should include all the facilities a prison may need, including cells, an exercise yard, and kitchens. The design should reflect a modern aesthetic and respect human rights, despite its use as a mode of confinement. This is a single stage competition, and the winning participants will receive prizes totaling US$ 6,000.
