eVolo Magazine has just announced the 2017 Skyscraper Competition, one of the world’s most prestigious awards for high-rise architecture. Open to students and professionals from around the globe, the annual competition has no restrictions—the objective is to provide maximum freedom to the participants and encourage extraordinary skyscraper proposals. Participants are also encouraged to take into consideration technological advances, sustainable systems, and humanitarian and environmental problem solving. Awards totaling $8,000 USD will be distributed to three winners. The late registration deadline is January 24, 2017 and the project submission deadline is February 7, 2017.

There are no restrictions in regards to site, program or size. The objective is to provide maximum freedom to the participants to engage the project without constraints in the most creative way. What is a skyscraper in the 21st century? What are the historical, contextual, social, urban, and environmental responsibilities of these mega-structures?
