Sustainable construction can give way to incredible benefits both immediate and long term. To help promote and celebrate innovative, future-oriented and tangible sustainable construction projects around the globe, the Holcim Foundation for Sustainable Construction is looking to award $2 million worth of prize money to support projects in this vein. Entries are now being accepted for projects and visions of sustainability in building and civil engineering works; landscape, urban design and infrastructure projects; and materials, products and construction technologies. The competition is open to architects, planners, engineers, project owners, builders and construction firms that showcase sustainable responses to technological, environmental, socioeconomic and cultural issues affective contemporary building and construction. After a centrally-performed technical pre-assessment, regional juries will evaluate and rank all entries in June/July 2011. The juries are supported by the respective partner university in each region and consist of independent, renowned representatives from science, business and society.
