Hammer & Hand just kicked off the perFORM 2015 Building Design Competition — and $6K in cash prizes are at stake. Open to architecture students and interns across the United States and Canada, this year’s competition challenges these emerging professionals to design a net zero energy, mixed-use multifamily building in the heart of Portland, Oregon. The high performance building design entries will be evaluated on their resourcefulness, replicability, and beauty. Registration is free. Submissions are due June 19, 2015.

$6,000 in cash awards to be distributed among winners.


Each submission shall include: • Completed perFORM 2015 energy verification tool demonstrating that the submitted design achieves a net zero balance between energy consumption and onsite energy generation. • Three 24” x 36” color boards in landscape format, presented as a single digital file in PDF format. Group and individual entries will be judged by a jury consisting of practicing architects, design educators, and builders. Professor Peter Keyes of the University of Oregon Department of Architecture will be serving as the perFORM 2015 advisor.
