Calling architects, landscape architects, urban planners, students and artists! CIVITAS wants you to generate dramatic and original concepts for New York City’s east side waterfront park in order to jump-start a process that could transform the entire East River pedestrian experience. Through this design-ideas competition, CIVITAS hopes to develop a spatially rich and varied scheme that will enhance the waterfront’s narrow confines with recognition of its total urban context. A design that includes a well-integrated mosaic of new a landscape, structure and alluring sculpture and lighting will help this prominent waterfront site achieve its potential, and create a favorited refuge for residents and visitors of all ages. Prizes up to $3,500 will be awarded to 8 entrants. The deadline to enter is January 15, 2012.
