2014 NXT City Prize has just launched an urban design competition that will award one visionary young individual or design team $5,000 for their idea on how to improve Toronto’s public spaces. Open to participants under 30, NXT City Prize offers a platform for young people to submit their big, bold, and unconventional ideas. The winning entry will receive a $5,000 cash prize and $10,000 in implementation funding. To be eligible for the prize, at least one member of the design team must reside in the Province of Ontario and all team members must be 30 years of age or younger as of April 30, 2014. Individual entrants must also be under 30 and reside in Ontario. All entries must be submitted by July 31, 2014 at 11:59pm. Winners will be notified by phone or email the first week of August 2014.

$5,000 + Implementation Costs. Two secondary prizes of $2,500 each will be awarded for (1) the most inspiration entry, and (2) the strongest entry submitted by an individual or team 18 years of age or younger


To be eligible, individuals and all team members must be 30 years of age or younger as of April 30, 2014. Please submit a vision for the future of one or more City-owned public spaces, clearly articulated on up to two (2) presentation panels, 36" X 48". Please include a brief (no more than 250 words) rationale and 2. A brief (250 word) written rationale for the submission. You may also link to a video to further convey your idea.
