The Taipei City Government has just launched the “Taipei International Design Award” competition–and there’s over $100,000 in prize money up for grabs! Open to designers from around the world with the ability to create artworks with commercial potential, the competition will serve as a creative design exchange platform that will boost Taipei’s image as a leader in cutting-edge design. The contest is split into three main categories: Industrial Design, Visual Communication Design, and Public Space Design. All entries must be original creations of the contestants and must have been completed after June 30, 2012. The deadline for registration is July 31, 2014.

The Top Winner will receive prizes amounting NTD 500,000 (approx. 16,500 USD). Apart from the cash prize, the Golden/Silver/Bronze winners will also receive a trophy and a certificate of recognition.


The organizers are looking for innovative works in the categories: • Industrial Design - Industrial design refers to works that can be mass-produced, including transportation tools, equipments, daily utilities and household goods, IT and home appliances, fashionables, etc. • Visual Communication Design - Visual communication includes identity, posters, packaging and publications. • Public Space Design - Encompass spaces for public usage, governmental buildings and certain private establishments. Entries must be original creations of the contestants completed after June 30, 2012. There is no entry fee. Eligibility Everyone around the world are welcomed to participate individually or as a group (each group is limited to five members) with one member as main correspondent.


The Taipei City Government will invite local and international experts of each field to publicly select winning works from the submissions.
