Transform a Former Canning Factory Into an Art and Design Destination in the ‘Revival of the Silo’ CompetitionDecember 31st, 2012
Designers are invited to submit ideas for the revitalization and reuse of a silo in the former packaging (canning) factory complex of Redtory, in Guangzhou, China, for the Revival of the Silo design competition. The aim of the competition is to create a space for young designers and artists that includes design studios, workshops, galleries, design schools, and machinery spaces for the industrial arts. Participants are encouraged to reactivate the unique silo, as well as the rooms, rooftops and gardens of the surrounding buildings. Architects, architecture grads, engineers and students are welcome to enter. Interdisciplinary teams are also encouraged to enter the competition. Submissions are due December 31, 2012.

1st PRIZE: US$ 3,000 (THREE THOUSAND US DOLLARS)
2nd PRIZE: US$ 1,500 (ONE THOUSAND FIVE HUNDRED US DOLLARS)
3rd PRIZE: US$ 500 (FIVE HUNDRED US DOLLARS)
There will also be honorable mentions and featured articles in international architecture and design media
SUBMISSION GUIDELINES
You are allowed to upload no more than 4 presentation boards (2000x2000 px each) to explain your proposal. No fixed requirements on sketches, plans, sections, elevations and other alternative presentation tools – as long as the idea is explained in a coherent manner.
