Escape Winter with a Trip to the Tropics…In The Bronx. Visitors to The New York Botanical Garden this winter can find a safe haven from the freezing weather outside with a native Caribbean Garden, complete with tropical trees, flowers, and foliage from Haupt Conservatory’s permanent collection, including orange-yellow crotons, fuschia bromeliads, and rosy red hibiscus. Free audiotours make self-guided walks a pleasure and New Yorkers can also choose to participate in docent-led tours of the Conservatory.  This eco-tour also allows discovery of aquatics, medicinal plants, unusual species, and the process of evolutionary change. Get out to the Botanical Garden this offseason to beat the crowds, enjoy half priced tickets and take advantage of the Conservatories inviting climate. This event repeats every week on Sunday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday between 1/15/2011 and 2/27/2011.
