Festival of Ideas: The Sustainable City Keynote Address by Antanas Mockus

Former President of the National University of Colombia, Antanas Mockus will give the keynote address to kick off the Festival of IdeasThe Sustainable City” segment. Mockus went on to serve two terms as the Mayor of Bogotá. Under Mockus’s leadership, water usage dropped 40 percent; 7,000 community security groups were formed; the homicide rate fell 70 percent; and traffic fatalities dropped by over 50 percent. In 2010, he ran for President of Colombia (with Sergio Fajardo as his running mate) on the Green Party ticket. He is currently President of Corpovisionarios, an organization consulting cities on addressing their problems through social mechanisms.
