The Department of Parks & Recreation is hosting tours of Freshkills Park, which will be almost three times the size of Central Park and the largest park developed in New York City in over 100 years. The Freshkills Park tour will depart from the St. George Ferry Terminal in Staten Island, and will take you by bus to guide you through the history of the site and the development of new capital programs at Freshkills as part of the Draft Master Plan for the site designed by James Corner Field Operations.
Space on the tours is limited though, and reservations are required, so make sure you register ASAP. Don’t forget to visit Freshkills for other tour dates as well. For more information about Freshkills, read Inhabitat’s past coverage.
