The schedule on Friday, Feb. 24 is inspired by a “work” sub-theme, with a focus on industry-related topics, entrepreneurship, working environments and food careers. Jacquie Berger, Executive Director of Just Food, Garrett Oliver, Brooklyn Brewery Brewmaster, George Weld, Owner and Chef of Egg, and two others will give “Food Talks” Friday morning, and the day’s workshops will include a hands-on class about cooking with every part of an ingredient, how to start your own food business, and more. The day will conclude with a Good Food Jobs Fair, featuring more than 40 businesses.
Saturday’s schedule will have a broader focus, covering a range of sustainable food trends and hot issues. Five local farmers will host a panel discussion, and workshops will include how to grow your own food in the city, how to build a soda bottle planter, and a discussion with farmers and farmworkers about creating a fair food system, plus more. The conference will commence with a celebratory local foods expo, giving attendees the opportunity to eat, drink, and engage more with local farms and artisans.
