Project for Public Streets is offering Streets as Places, a two-day training seminar about how to redefine transportation and streets to build communities. Presentations and discussions will focus on policy, design, community process, and implementation strategies, emphasizing how participants can work within their community to influence the creation of their transportation system. Topics will include tools for complete streets and the best sidewalk design, how to effective engage the community, how transportation agencies and communities can better communicate, the best methods for pedestrian and bike-friendly streets, planning cities and neighborhoods around train stations, and sustainable infrastructure. The symposium will be held at Pratt’s Manhattan campus, as well as at selected locations throughout the city.
