TD Bank Five Boro Bike Tour and Outdoor Festival

Date & Time

START: 8:00 AM May 1, 2011
END: 5:00 PM May 1, 2011

On May 1, more than 30,000 cyclists will pedal down 42 miles of mostly flat, car-free streets through all five boroughs, taking in views of iconic landmarks of New York City. From the starting line in Lower Manhattan, the TD Bank Five Boro Bike Tour ride progresses north through the spine of Manhattan into Central Park. It continues on to Harlem and the Bronx, returning south along the East River on the FDR Drive. The course then crosses into Queens, followed by Brooklyn, overtaking the highway with bicycles. Cyclists then make the thrilling climb up—and down—the Verrazano-Narrows Bridge to Staten Island. Riders are encouraged to document their journey through images, and enter a photo contest. The ride culminates in a lively outdoor festival, including bike demos, giveaways, games, food stands, product samples, stretching, massage, a photo booth, and official merchandise on sale.

Regular registration is sold out for the 2011 Tour, but you can still hurry and contact the Tour’s charity partners for a guaranteed entry, or register as a VIP! Or, for those who just like to spectate, it’s free to stake out a spot along the ride’s route and cheer on the bikers.
