What do you get when you mix the famous Dumpster Pools, the fervor of an open air dance party, the delicacy of summer cocktails (think: real coconut), and the lawless beauty of a night lit by fire? This is your summer made exquisitely out-of-control.
3rd Ward, Macro-Sea, Artists Wanted, TheDanger and Chashama have spent the past several weeks building out a fantastic oasis in the creative heart of Queens. A couple blocks from PS1, the group is opening The Palms, a late summer ode to the Boca Raton Resort Pools of the 1940’s (with more music, spectacle and hedonism).
The fun starts the weekend of August 12, with food, fun, and dancing. Arrive in the early afternoon on Saturday Saturday for the world infused impeccable selections of Cumba Mela including DJs Thornato, Atropolis and 2melo. Plus, there will be a late night session with TheDanger resident Zemi17. And a secret headline act to be announced the day before the event (due to contractual obligation)! The tunes will continue on Sunday with DJs The Gorges Boys from noon through Midnight.
Luke’s Lobster Rolls and Mexicue will be for sale, along with local craft bear, sangria, and coconut cocktails. Cost is $10 at the door each day ($20 after 3pm on Saturday), plus the cost of drinks (which The Palms describes as “cheap” on their website).
