This hidden Greenpoint gem serves a simple yet inventive menu created from fresh, locally sourced ingredients. Everything Eat uses is sourced either from the tri-state area (New York, Pennsylvania and New Jersey) or New England (Vermont, Massachusetts and Maine) by working exclusively with select local farms and producers. In many ways, Eat is helping put the Green in Greenpoint. The cafe does not use imported products such as coffee, olive oil, sugar, and spices. Instead of coffee, herbal teas are served; instead of olive oil, there is sunflower seed oil and butternut squash seed oil; instead of sugar, they use local maple syrup and honey. They dry batches of local herbs and spices, like sage, chili, and coriander, to use throughout the winter months. The salt is from Maine (the furthest “import”) and is harvested and dried with 100% solar power. The low-key cafe is the perfect spot for brunch or a relaxing summer snack on the back patio.
