Hugh Hayden

Hugh Hayden “practices reasoned design applicable at any scale, from meatball to skyscraper.” He creates chairs and homewares from used tennis balls, which he often obtains from tennis tournaments and recreation facilities in the city. At the 2010 BKLYN Designs, he showcased Frameicariums that he created with fellow designer Katie Vitale. The living pieces of artwork reinvented the ant farm with salvaged picture frames and colored sand. The real life ants create shifting landscapes, resulting in a changing piece of wall art. His FUNature, created from brightly colored plastic balls is available for purchase at The Future Perfect.
