The Noguchi Museum

The Noguchi Museum is dedicated to preservation, documentation, presentation, and interpretation of the work of its namesake, Isamu Noguchi. Best known for his sculptures and works of public art, Noguchi also designed theater sets, housewares, and furniture, much of which is considered to be some of the most influential modern design. The museum uses its changing exhibitions and public programs to illuminate the connections Noguchi’s work has to the environment, architecture, works on paper, and other artists’ designs for furniture, lighting, landscapes, and theater. Noguchi design the museum’s building, and it is widely considered one of his greatest works. The museum complex consists of a 2-story, 10-gallery building and an open-air sculpture garden. It houses the world’s largest and most extensive collection of Noguchi’s work, and has several permanent displays of his work, and regularly hosts temporary exhibitions relating to Noguchi’s work and influences.
