Twinkle toes, anyone? The models on the Chanel Couture Fall/Winter 2011 runway in Paris on Tuesday may have been light on their feet, but we didn’t expect them to have lights on their feet, as well. In a display that nearly rivaled the Eiffel Tower in the distance, the clotheshorses trotted out for a final walk in the dark, illuminated only by laser-sharp LED beams on the the tips of their shoes.

Sorry, there are no polls available at the moment.

This isn’t the first time Karl Lagerfeld, the fashion house’s creative director, has baffled us with his choices, but in this case we have to wonder: Could the Kaiser be onto something…brilliant? For anyone who’s stumbled in the dark, flashlight heels would be a godsend. Either way, the unconventional footwear has the fashion world seeing “shoe shine” in a whole new light.
