Just call Joseph Palmer the MacGyver of the boardwalk. For Inhabitat’s Spring Greening competition, Palmer created a pair of surf-and-sand-ready flip-flops from completely recycled materials (we think; more on that later). Composed of chopsticks salvaged from a dumpster behind a Japanese restaurant, cork from an old bulletin board, and leather straps from a discarded bag, Palmer’s Chop Flops would probably catch on if it weren’t for the “collected” dental floss that binds the components together. If all that stands between you and defusing a bomb across flaming tar sands is questionable hygiene, however, who are we to judge?
