Deana Bracken, who co-founded the online eco-boutique Green With Glamour, gravitates toward classic pieces that can be glammed up with eye-popping accents. “I’m not a huge trend follower,” she says, “but eco-design is so inspiring and hunting for vintage is so delicious.” Running your own online eco-boutique (which the Los Angeleno does alongside her friend Kathleen Rowan) has its privileges, as well, and Bracken admits to raiding the virtual racks for pieces to add to her own wardrobe. “It just makes sense, right?” she says. Below, Bracken reveals which accessory she never leaves home without and what you’ll find her wearing by the pool of the Parker Hotel in Palm Springs.

I recently moved into a house with a teeny, tiny closet, so pre-move, I donated close to half my wardrobe to Dress For Success and The Discovery Shop. I kept only pieces I love and my best basics. The purge was incredibly enlightening and I now realize that it’s unnecessary to have gobs of clothing to be stylish!

I now realize that it’s unnecessary to have gobs of clothing to be stylish!

I keep my outfits simple and I pretty much have two looks. Spring/summer means vintage caftans with flat sandals and minidresses or shorts with high-wedged espadrilles. Fall/winter is all about juxtaposed layers: ribbed tanks with structured jackets, man-tailored shirts with slouchy cardigans, vintage dresses with tights and heels topped with an old jean jacket—all finished with scarves and statement jewelry.

Palm Springs is a favorite weekend spot for me…the heat, the look, the easy glamour. It’s also my favorite place to “thrift” (check out the many Angel View thrift stores if you’re in the desert). I pair these vintage floor-length dresses with flat sandals and big hoop earrings. The center dress is a 1980s Mary Quant design that you’ll often find me wearing at the Parker Hotel, poolside.

I’m crazy for lace! It’s delicate and girlie, so I typically pair a lace piece with ribbed tank, beat-up jeans, and ballerina flats. From left: Stella McCartney (a hero of mine), Covet, and two vintage tops.

I keep my bottoms basic: black pencil skirt, black wide-leg pants, black skinny pants…you get the picture. These three tops from Green With Glamour are all perfect pieces to heighten a day or evening look, feminine without being fussy. From left: Sublet, The Battalion, and EcoSkin.

I almost always wear my hair up, so hair accessories help me change up my look from day to day. And scarves are a bit of an obsession for me…the organic cotton, hand-drawn pieces by Popomomo are some of my favorites!

I always carry a clutch bag (and heels) at night. It’s a quick and easy way to elevate an outfit for the evening. Here are some of my favorites: vintage Yves Saint Laurent, a vegan clutch from Matt & Nat, recycled leather ruffle clutch by ReFind Originals, and a sleek and chic black hemp envelope clutch by Heather Heron.

Kirsten Muenster is a brilliant jewelry artist. I consider her the Elsa Peretti of our time. She works with recycled metals, fossils, and rare, safely mined gems. Necklaces in back are by Geraldine Rincon and Monica Macha.

Glorious shoes! I do not buy any new leather, so my shoes are either vegan or vintage. Clockwise from the back: Tara Subkoff for Easy Spirit (not vegan, but over four years old, mostly fabric and grandfathered in), vintage Pucci, Beyond Skin (fabulous vegan line!), Stella McCartney, Melissa, Stella McCartney, again…ah, shoes!
