Pining for spring already? Tide yourself over with a sneak preview of Hessnatur’s upcoming Spring/Summer 2012 collection, which features collaborations with three award-winning designers: Bodkin’s Eviana Hartman, who received the Ecco Domani Sustainable Design Award in 2009; Miguel Adrover, the Council of Fashion Designers of America’s Best New Designer of 2000; and Janosch Mallwitz, winner of the German label’s 2011 Humanity in Fashion Award in January.

SPRING FORWARD

Hartman, now in her fourth season, returns to form with a range of modular separates in a variety of sumptuous earth tones. Distinguished by rolled cuffs and short hems, as well as a conscious eschewal of print, the pieces are as versatile as they are sophisticated. Particularly noteworthy is a fluid silk tunic, available in rose or gray, that can be tailored to a variety of body types with a waist-cinching belt.

Together, the three lines form a cogent whole that remains true to one of Hessnatur’s core principles: providing options that deliver both style and sustainability.

Adrover, who serves as the ethical-fashion pioneer’s creative director, was inspired by the simplicity of stones weathered by a river. Ranging from a cream-colored silk maxi-skirt that pairs nicely with a tucked-in tank to a gray linen suit, Adrover’s luxurious staples offer form and tactility.

New to Hessnatur is Mallwtiz, whose win included a generous cash prize and an exclusive contract with the company. The Berliner’s men’s capsule collection exudes a sportier, outdoorsy vibe, with the application of color to symbolize the perceived divide between fashion and sustainability.
