On February 6, two local designers will show off some of the best that local eco fashion has to offer. Haught Style, a Prairie Village boutique, will host a trunk show featuring Fashion Loves People organic tees and Early Jewelry.
Fashion Loves People, designed by Kansas City ethical fashion blogger Janette Crawford, is a line of organic tees printed with vintage fashion illustrations from the 1960s and 1970s. Tees are 100 percent organic cotton, ethically made in Peru, and printed in the United States. with eco-friendly water-based inks.
One dollar from each sale goes to Not For Sale, a hands-on nonprofit fighting human trafficking in the United States and abroad. The illustrator, Kansas City’s J. Kirk Davis, will be in attendance. The Fashion Loves People tee line was borne of Crawford’s globally read ethical fashion blog, founded in 2007.
Fashion Loves People tee styles can be viewed online, and the second tee in the young line will be unveiled at the event.
Early Jewelry, designed by Kylie Grater and handmade from start to finish in Lawrence by her and her team, is made from recycled metals, reconstructed vintage jewelry parts, and natural materials. Urban Outfitters picked up Grater’s line in 2007-2008, and it is sold in boutiques across the country, including trunk shows at various locations at Kansas City’s First Fridays.
Both brands will be selling their goods at special sale prices for the event. Locally sourced drinks and snacks will be available throughout the day.
