To kick off Fashion Week in New York, sustainable online realtor Modavanti.com took New York by storm, by staging three flash fashion shows. Organizers and models rolled out the green carpet to unsuspecting audience members, showcasing twelve sustainable looks on the fly. The fashion frenzy began at Madison Square Park, before popping up in Union Square then Washington Square Park.

With a mission to make sustainability sexy, Modavanti teamed up with Aushim Raswant of 3vNYC to create New York’s first flash mob fashion show. With New York already gearing up for fashion week, the surprising fashion shows were a creative way to get Modavanti’s wares seen, targeted to an audience of actual potential customers, rather than an invite-only list.

Bystanders eating lunch or taking a break in each park were delightfully confused when Modavanti’s posse took over each space, bringing a giant green carpet, fashion friendly music, and a crew of twelve models to each site. Like any fashion show, the models walked the makeshift runway, smiling and posing, and giving the public a taste of sexy sustainable fashion.

Modavanti.com has teamed up with over 60 leading sustainable designers, bringing eco-friendly and ethically sourced apparel and accessories to one curated website. Clothes featured fit eight different criteria, made in the USA, organic, vegan, recycled/repurposed, energy efficient, handmade, fair trade and eco-conscious. Shoppers can browse each category easily, and find their perfect sustainable look with just a click.
