Your favorite skinnies looking a bit worse for the wear? Help them cross over into that great denim outlet in the sky by dropping trou at your local Gap. From now till October 20, nearly 1,000 Gap stores across the United States and Canada will be participating in the “Cotton. From Blue to Green” denim drive, part of a Cotton Incorporated initiative to convert worn-out jeans into UltraTouch Natural Cotton Fiber Insulation. For their trouble, denim donors will receive a 30 percent discount on any pair of Gap 1969 jeans. Plus, if you “like” Gap on its Facebook page, you’ll get an extra 10 percent on top of that.

BRIDGING THE GAP

At their first joint denim drive in March 2009, Gap and Cotton Incorporated collected more than 270,000 pairs of jeans nationwide. The bootcut bounty went on to become insulation for 500 homes in underserved communities and for special projects such as Hurricane Katrina rebuilding efforts.
