Come spring, designer Stella McCartney will debut a line of eco-friendly eyewear made of natural and renewable materials. The collection, which includes three acetate and two metal models, will feature bio-injected plastic made from 54 percent castor-oil seeds, which are grown with little water or pesticides. The formula combines cellulose with natural plasticizers derived from citric acid. “The greatest challenge was the amount of time that was spent on research and testing to get the best quality product possible with the highest performance in terms of resistance, while still maintaining the style and finish we always try to achieve,” McCartney told WWD on Monday.
