Finally, an alternative to fast-fashion beachwear. Riz Boardshorts, the brainchild of surfer and swimwear designer Riz Smith, crafts its boardies from 100 percent recycled and recyclable polyester. Digitally printed using water-based, earth-friendly inks, Riz’s shorts can be returned, recycled, and reintroduced back into the loop through the company’s “Rizcycling” program. When you’re ready for your next pair, just send your old ones back to be recycled into new polyester yarn. A percentage of Riz’s sales goes to the charity Surfers against Sewage, an environmental group that campaigns for cleaner coastlines.

We’re particuarly smitten with this season’s quintessentially English “dandy” range, inspired by the Arts and Crafts Movement of the late 19th century. Back in the day, these designs would have adorned the walls of Oscar Wilde’s drinking dens. How deliciously clever, then, that in the 21st century, Riz has taken these these prints out of the parlor and onto the beach.

To highlight the launch of this unique innovative range of men’s board shorts, Smith hand-numbered each pair, making every one part of a limited edition.
