Susan Cianciolo's Spring/Summer 2011 launch at The GreenShows for New York Fashion Week was all about one-of-a-kind constructions and everyday people. Cianciolo’s eclectic background—she was a member of the Badgley Mischka design team, worked with Sonic Youth bassist Kim Gordon for her X-Girl line, and developed performance art pieces—is reflected in her handmade creations that continue to merge the art and fashion worlds. Her designs, primarily constructed from recycled, organic, and vintage materials, were earth-based in palette, coupled with relaxed lines and warm traces of reds, blues, and yellows. Click through our slideshow for an exclusive look at Cianciolo's handmade pieces, which she draped upon friends, family, and models alike to our immense delight.
ONE OF A KIND
With or without personal sitar players in tow, it’s obvious that Susan Cianciolo is one designer who makes her own kind of music. That fact was no less evident at her GreenShows debut at New York Fashion Week on Sunday, where she paraded an eclectic array of designs that effortlessly bridged the divide between performance art and wearable fashion.
